e-Safety at USH

The education of our students, staff and the wider community in e-safety is an essential part of the school’s safeguarding provision and vision. We apply policy, regulation and restriction to the use of our school information technology systems and solutions and we do this in conjunction with e-Safety guidance, knowledge and practice.

In the coming months we will be engaging with our stakeholders – students, parents, teachers and governors. This will include regular training, assemblies, the provision of resources, and parent information evenings. Our aim is to empower all with knowledge and understanding of e-Safety.

The internet provides lots of opportunities for chatting with friends, playing games and creating your own content. To help you get the most out of the internet, the UK Safer Internet Centre have brought together the latest information on staying safe online.

When should I report to CEOP using the button?

CEOP help children stay safe online. Has someone acted inappropriately towards you online, or to a child or young person you know? It may be sexual chat, being asked to do something that makes you feel uncomfortable or someone being insistent on meeting up. You can report it by clicking the CEOP button above.

What help can I get for my child?

If your child needs someone to talk to because of anything which has upset them, it could be that they are being bullied or that they have seen something online which they wish they hadn’t, there are a number of places they can go.

Children can ring Childline on 0800 1111 and speak to trained counsellors about any problems they may face. Childline is run by the NSPCC and is there to help your child.

In line with CEOP’s Thinkuknow programme, some of the content covers internet safety, but it all starts from the assumption that young people make little distinction between their online and offline lives and the issues for parents are often the same. The aim is to help parents help their children be discriminating, web-literate and resilient.
