  • Christmas Card Competition Winner

We have been running a Christmas Card competition at USH for the official school card and the winner this year is Myleta, who is in Year 8.  Myleta spoke about winning the competition:

“I really like photography and I heard about the competition.  I like pictures I have seen of objects placed on an open book, so I had cake decorations in the shapes of trees and I focussed on the words.  I really thought that the competition winner would be one of the older students.  The lighting really helped my photograph and I think winning is cool because it will meant that more people will know who I am!  I really love photography and art, but I prefer photography because, even if you take a bad photograph, by using filters you can make it better; you have more control”.

Well done Myleta, it’s a great photograph!

  • Parenting Teenagers and Pre-Teens

Being a secondary school pupil and becoming a teenager are big changes, with challenges as well as joys. These sessions will give parents key information about changes taking place in their child’s brain and the major impact this has on their emotions and behaviour. This understanding is the foundation for setting appropriate loving limits and maintaining a positive, respectful relationship.

Lorraine Lee, a professional parenting practitioner, with over 14 years’ experience will be leading the sessions. She has worked with schools all over Hampshire and has a background in child psychology.
